I'm Marilyn. And in December 2008, in the flurry of trying to get gifts purchased and wrapped at the last minute, realizing that Christmas cards -- in spite of being purchased -- would go unsent for yet another year, knowing that my only Christmas decoration was a dining table centerpiece, and feeling as though I hadn't made any time to simply stop, reflect and enjoy the season and the meaning behind the celebrations, I realized that 2009 HAD to be different. I decided then and there that I would have all of my gifts wrapped and ready by November 15, 2009, so that I could spend Thanksgiving enjoying that holiday for all it means (instead of thinking of it as the official consumer kick-off to Christmas) and that I could enjoy December by decorating my home for the season, spending time with friends, focusing on the meaning of the season and reducing the stress in my life.
There was one catch, though. As a veteran turning-over-a-new-leafer, I knew that I'd be hard-pressed to do this on my own. I needed a mentor, and I knew JUST the person. My friend Steph had her custom Christmas cards finished in September. Her home and tree were decorated the weekend before Thanksgiving. She finished shopping and wrapping her gifts by November 29th -- including the individual gifts she bought for her 10-person department at work! I asked for her help and was so grateful that she agreed. I also figured that I wasn't the only person who might benefit from this effort and, voilà -- this blog was born. We hope you find it helpful, too!
Listen here missy! A blog requires plenty of writing, so I wanna see more, and now! ;)
